KANSAS CLINIC GUIDELINES
We will present a track & field clinic on Saturday, March 5, 2005, for coaches, athletes
and parents from the Midwest in the Kansas City area at
MidAmerica Nazarene.  This
clinic will be a ‘learning by doing’ clinic.  Under current member school rules Kansas
coaches and athletes can not go to a clinic together even after the season has started.
Surrounding states do allow coaches and athletes to be together.  Kansas does not!
Given safety concerns in track & field, coaches may want to propose consideration for a
change through their elected representative.  Only Kansas coaches and parents will be
allowed to attend this clinic.  Kansas 7–12th grade athletes who are competing in track
and field for their schools will not be allowed to attend.
Kansas coaches and parents will have a truly unique opportunity to learn many of the
skills that T&F Olympians have developed to be better performers both mentally and
physically!  The Olympians and coaches that will be presenting at the clinic will be
teaching you fundamental skills that it will take to get you to the next level in a manner
that will be easily understood and implemented.  Coaches
and parents will have the
opportunity to develop these skills by participating in this truly unique learning
environment.  You will also have the opportunity to develop workouts that are
appropriate for a particular athlete by taking into consideration both their training and
chronological ages.
Coaches from Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska will be able to count this as their
mandatory attendance at a rules interpretation meeting if you choose to attend that part
of the clinic.
All areas of track and field will be covered with an introduction given to the multi-events
as well as other collegiate events.  You are encouraged to dress appropriately if you wish
to participate in activities such as drills.
The cost of the day long clinic will be $75 for coaches & parents.  Schools that have 10 or
more coaches & parents register will be charged $60 for coaches & parents.  Registration
at the door will be an additional $10.  The cost will include the noon meal.  Several door
prizes will be given out to clinic participants.  There will be an autograph session where
coaches and parents can have their pictures taken with the clinicians that will include
numerous Olympians.  Clinic notes will be provided for all those whose registration is
received by March 1st.
Again, please note that those Kansas athletes that will be representing their school this
track season will not be allowed to attend.
NOTE:  Please pass this information on to any coach or parent that might be interested.
